A TRIBUTE TO SUSAN STOVALL QUEEN OF THE DESERT FOR 20 YEARS.

Susan Stovall, just plain Susan, or as Alex Jacoy called her: “Stovall,” was #2 at El Dorado Polo for so long, many people never knew Alex and her didn’t own it. This team of two guided El Dorado from the get go and oversaw a growth like never before in polo. It was probably the biggest club in America for at least 2 decades and stayed that way because Susan cared, and worked as well as played, making schedules ever month for 20 goal to 4 goal polo, and back in the 80’s and 90’s, that was sometimes as many as 40 teams playing 2 games every weekend + practice everyday but Monday. Somehow she always got it done. Whether Patrons, Polo players or Grooms, she dealt with them all and pretty much the same way: DIRECT. She was quite the woman—tough as nails while working, and always good for a laugh when the day was done.

In those days El Dorado opened in Nov. around Thanksgiving and ran through April, and sometimes a little of May, and it all went through Susan-from -2 to 8 or 9 goal players. Seldom saw a 10 in this area but we did during the US OPEN back in the 90’s . Polo has changed as new people came and went but El Dorado did not until Susan and Alex stepped down and the recession hit, but it was QUITE a RIDE and we Thank YOU MS STOVALL for that gift.

She will be missed, but not forgotten.
