Last Monday Susan STOVAL was honored at El Dorado Polo Club in Indio and yesterday at Grand Champion Polo Center, a Sunday game was played in Honor of a former Chairman of USPA and a driving force in the Association, Richard (Dick) REMENSCHNEIDER. Big guy was chairman from 1995 through 1999. Both were big movers in closing the last century and starting the new one, and they both continued to contribute until their passings. We will miss them and hope their places will be filled with new blood and the same effort they showed.
I’ve been down here in South Florida for a day or 2 and have seen some brilliant games. Yesterday there were 2 very important games, as the winners are headed to the Semis in the CV WHITNEY CUP. The first one was a Dandy. A little rough, but lots of speed. SHACKATTACK, sponsored by a Lovely Lady with no name, took on LaFe who had a run. They fell behind a 4 pro team by 5 goals and the came out flying, and the Shacks started fouling a little (or a lot) too much and Mr Elizade (probably spelled wrong) made them pay. In a game with about 30 fouls give or take, they were still scoring goals–with a total of 29 in all, and they finished in OT with Tocalina getting the Golden Goal. But he had amazing help from the Magrini boys, a Santino was on fire and must of had 5 goals with bombs from Keko and Santi. Schack heads to the Semis! In the Main Game, it was the Chairman, Stewart Armstrong, and Aspen taking on a very tough Valiente, with 3 fire breathing young guns. And it was a long day for Aspen. Their young gun, Rufino Bensadon is very likely headed to 10, but AC had 2 on his side–young Lucas CRIADO and a true gun, Peke GONZALEZ. And with those at his side, they are headed to the semis as well. So you have some big players in the Semis this Wednesday, and you’ll have a good match any way you go, with Hilario Uloah leading Park Place, Facundo Pierces on Pilot, A. Cambiaso driving the Rolls for Valiente, and 4 pros on Shackattack. Just heard this– not sure is it’s true– but it looks like it’ll be Park Place vs Valiente and Shack vs Pilot. If I find out more, I’ll send it on.
